The Unity Council is a non-profit Social Equity Development Corporation with 60 years of history in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland. Our mission is to promote social equity and improve quality of life by building vibrant communities where everyone can work, learn, and thrive.
In the early 2000’s, The Unity Council initiated the Fruitvale Transit Village project, gathering activists, non-profits, and a variety of government agencies together to build structures that would create improvements and support community members with intention, empathy, and care.
